What is your favorite kind of client work?
I love in depth hard stuff. Solving problems and puzzles are my strengths and favorite things to do, so I like to have a project that I can really dig into. If it involves scouring YouTube for troubleshooting, that’s a huge bonus!
I also really like working in PowerPoint! I think PowerPoint is really underrated – I can do some really cool stuff in there. Every time I see one of those articles that says PowerPoint is out, I cry a little inside.
What does the perfect day off look like to you?
I wake up early and go for a run, come home and eat a smoothie bowl and read while I have my coffee. Then I ride my bike up to the pool and sit and read in the grass between going for swims.
How did you get interested in VA work?
At every job I’ve had, I would love my work so much. And then I would get promoted. And then my job would be boring and involve managing people, but it was the only way to make more money, move up in the company, etc. So I had this idea that I would start my own business where I could just do all the fun work all the time.
So, I started out by doing a couple of different freelance projects to make money and one of those was working for a big VA company called Time Etc. Working for them introduced me to what it meant to be a VA. I. Loved. It. And so the dream was born.
What is your go-to morning beverage?
Coffee with Sweet Cream Sown Creamer … I wake up thinking about this.
What professional skills would you like to master?
I would love to learn coding. I have really basic programming knowledge, but I think it would be so cool to be able to write programs, create powerful databases, build servers, and other cool things like that. It would be like unlocking a whole world of possibilities.
What is your guilty pleasure?
Reality TV, the weirder the better. I like Alaskan Bush People, My Strange Addiction, Teen Mom OG & Teen Mom 2, Intervention, Hoarders, 1000 lb Sisters, Sister Wives, My Big Fat Fabulous Life…you see what I’m saying.
If you could choose any celebrity to be your best friend, who would it be?
Bernie Sanders! I’m not 100% sure that he’s considered a celebrity, but he’s a gem. I would love to hang out with him and his wife in their cool Vermont house in front of their wood burning stove. I could listen to him rant about injustice all day!
Be a shapeshifter or have the ability to read minds?
Shapeshifter. I think knowing what people around me were thinking would freak me out.
Favorite place you’ve been?
This is a really hard question. We spent a lot of time traveling last year and I love everywhere that we went – truly. I think I would have to say the Adirondacks. That area is so beautiful, but also lowkey with really down to earth people.
What is something about you that would surprise your 13 year old self?
I don’t work outside or live somewhere with 365 days of summer. When I was younger I used to tell my family that I was going to move somewhere where it was always warm and I was going to work outside everyday.
